Richard Wright RIP

I have never known him personally, and I may have only seen him perform on stage once, but I am feeling profoundly upset to have read today that Richard Wright, the keyboardist and co-founder of Pink Floyd has lost his short battle with cancer.

Richard Wright
In musical terms he was a genious and shared some of the song-writing duties with Roger Waters and of course was the mastermind behind the incredible tune that is 'The Great Gig in the Sky'.

I offer my condolances and remember one of the lyrics from that very song which encourages me everyday: "I'm not frightened of dying, anytime will do I don't mind. Why should I be afraid of dying? There's no reason for it, we've all got to go some time."

Unfortunately Wright's time was today. He was 65.

Today is a truly sad day for music. Richard Wright RIP
