Back from Paris - and shock horror I enjoyed it!!

The Louvre at night, 9th March 2007 - click to view more of my photos! (opens in a new window) I am now back in Bordeaux after spending a really lovely long weekend visiting a best friend in Paris (staying in St Quentin en Yveline). For various reasons every time I go to Paris it seems to always be a nightmare so it was so nice this weekend to finally enjoy the place for what it is. Thankfully, there weren’t too many tourists around, and it seemed like I bought the weather up from Bordeaux as it was really hot all the time I was there!

We managed to do an awful lot in the short time I was there. We looked around the Louvre the Friday night, all the main tourist sites on the Saturday, walked up the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe, took the Batobus along the Seine, visited Sacré Coeur and Notre Dame, ate out in St Michel, visited the museum of les Invalides, caught many trains, ate an amazing ham, egg, sausage and cheese crêpe, enjoyed a glass of Bordeaux red wine on the bank of the Seine, watched many an episode of Prison Break and I've probably still forgotten something!

On Sunday, France faced England in the Six Nations rugby, so we watched that match in an English pub in central Paris and thoroughly enjoyed England’s' victory, despite being cramped and having to pay more than a fiver for a pint of Guinness! I continued my half-marathon training with an hour-long jog around the park in St Quentin on Tuesday morning, and even managed to read two books front-to-back for essays I need to write in the upcoming weeks.

Overall, it was a fantastic weekend, really productive, really relaxing and very enjoyable! I still cannot see myself living in Paris, but I would definitely go back again now...
